Golden Plumb Is Looking for Its New Logo!

One of Turkey’s first and most prestigious awards in the building materials industry, Golden Plumb celebrates its 30th anniversary with a brand-new logo. Since 1991, Golden Plumb has been honoring innovation, sustainability, and quality in the construction sector. This year, through its Logo Design Competition, it is seeking a new logo that will represent its future vision.

The competition is open to all undergraduate students studying in national and international design disciplines. Sponsored by Artstone, the award aims to attract designs that both honor Golden Plumb’s strong legacy and reflect its innovative and sustainable future.

The winning logo will become the official new logo of Golden Plumb and will be featured on various platforms starting from the announcement date—including the 2025 awards ceremony.

Purpose and Theme of the Competition:

This competition aims to create a new logo to mark the 30th anniversary of Golden Plumb, the first product-based award in Turkey’s building materials industry. It seeks to encourage creative and original designs that reflect the identity of Golden Plumb.

The winning design will be used as the new official logo of Golden Plumb starting from the date of its announcement.

The logo to be designed through the competition is expected to highlight Golden Plumb’s 30-year legacy and its contribution to the building industry, while also reflecting its vision for the future. Designers may choose to incorporate Golden Plumb’s corporate colors or adopt an entirely new visual approach.

Competition Entry Requirements:

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate students studying in design-related disciplines (such as graphic design, interior architecture, architecture, communication design, etc.), and participation is free of charge.

  • Participants may enter the competition individually.

  • Each participant may submit up to three alternative logo designs.

  • By submitting a logo, the participant declares and guarantees that the design is their own original work and that all necessary permissions have been obtained.

  • All usage rights of the winning logo will be transferred to Building Catalog (Yapı Kataloğu). After the results are announced, participants may share or exhibit their submitted designs, provided they credit the competition as a reference.

  • The competition is open to both national and international participants.

  • The organizing institution reserves the right to make changes to these terms.

Design Criteria

  • The logo should reflect Golden Plumb’s 30-year legacy, while also incorporating its innovative vision for the future.

  • The new Golden Plumb logo should be approached in a clear and creative manner.

  • The logo must be suitable for use in various sizes and adaptable to both digital and printed materials.

  • Logos must not contain any identifying marks such as names or signatures.

  • All logos must be created digitally using vector-based design software. Hand-drawn or hand-colored designs will not be accepted.

Submissions

Participants must complete the application form in full. The name, phone number, and email address provided in the form must belong to the participant. To ensure anonymity during the evaluation process, each participant must create a five-digit code to be used as a pseudonym. This code should be used as the file name for all submitted digital materials.

Once the application form is completed, participants will receive a submission kit from Building Catalog. The kit will include:

  • A brief introduction to Golden Plumb,

  • A short story explaining the concept behind the logo,

  • Two versions of the logo (the original and one with the “30th Year” emblem),

  • An outline showing how the logo works in different color variations,

  • Mock-up visuals for presentation.

Participants are required to submit:

  • Both versions of the logo (with and without the “30th Year” element)

  • The provided outline and mock-ups, customized for their own logo

  • Logos in vector format (.ai or .eps) and PDF format

Submissions must be sent via email to altincekul@yapikatalogu.com no later than the final submission date.

Participants submitting multiple logo alternatives must prepare a separate set of outline and mock-up visuals for each design.

All students applying to the competition must also provide a valid student certificate dated within the current term (documents with QR/barcode codes from national systems like e-Devlet are acceptable). Applications submitted without a student certificate will not be considered valid.

Evaluation Criteria

  • The story behind the logo: The clarity and strength of the idea and design process presented will be a primary evaluation criterion.

  • Originality: The design must be original. Entries that resemble existing logos will be automatically disqualified.

  • Relevance to the theme: The logo should align with the theme and goals of the competition.

  • Applicability of the design: The logo should be versatile and functional across various platforms and formats.

Competition Timeline

  • Competition Launch: Monday, October 21, 2024

  • Deadline for Questions: Friday, November 15, 2024

  • Publication of Answers: Monday, November 22, 2024

  • Submission Deadline for Logos: Sunday, December 15, 2024

  • Jury Evaluation Meeting: December 2024

  • Announcement of Winners: January 2025

Announcement of Results

The winners will be announced in January 2025 on the official websites and social media accounts of Building Catalog and Golden Plumb.

Award:
 

  • The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 50,000 TRY, sponsored by Artstone. In addition, the winner will be presented with a commemorative plaque at the Golden Plumb Award Ceremony to be held in April 2025.

  • The winning logo design will be promoted on the official websites and social media accounts of Building Catalog and Golden Plumb, and will be used across all platforms throughout the year.

  • The visual designs for the 30th Golden Plumb International Building Catalog Award Ceremony will be developed in collaboration with the winning student.
